Day trip to the remote village of Vík in Mýrdal,
Skógarfoss and more.
We drive east to Vík í Mýrdal a village on the South-eastern coast. Our
first stop on the journey will be to take time to admire the beautiful waterfall
Seljarlandsfoss. Couregous travelers are able to walk behind the
waterfall.
Others can
enjoy standing in front of the waterfall with the guide and a storyteller to watch
the wide variety of birds, soaring like acrobats from the high cliff-face.
We continue along the South coast of Iceland and our next stop will be at Skógar.
Here there is an ancient turf-roofed homestead, now a museum, which displays how
the ordinary people of Iceland lived in the past.
Then we drive still further off the beaten track to the Southern-most tip
of Iceland Dyrhólaey famous for its birdlife. We can explore an ancient vaulted
cave, visit the village Vík for some refreshment and then drive to a beautiful
valley called Heiðardalur. The green valley is actually a huge volcanic crater
surrounded by high mountains and set with a shimmering lake. The day will be
crowned by a traditional local banquet.
